From the Laptop

Well,
the heat has arrived, bringing with it strange summer storms and lovely,
tempting, afternoon surprises. I hope you are finding joy in each sunrise
and breeze, whether it comes from some sort of indoor cooling system or the
invisible, billowing celestial waves.
I'm glad to see you back. As promised, this issue is a good one.
We talk about endurance, challenges, the grief cycle and the search for a
diagnosis. Our new kids section is accompanied by a two-part podcast with
and by kids!
If you’ve checked out the podcast, you’ve already met Catie. She’s our
newest contributor who is in the process of seeking an official diagnosis of
her movement disorder. Already you can find her video journals on YouTube.
Now you can also catch up with her here, where we will be publishing
excerpts from her journey as she navigates the health system.

Last
month I was able to go to the Taste of Chicago, a festival of the city’s
finest flavors, booths, vendors and music. Check out the podcast (still in
editing) and experience the sounds (including interviews) and challenges of
attending this fun event.
I was able to attend the Abilities Expo this month. How I enjoyed it! All I
can say, if you are anywhere near Houston, Texas or Atlanta, Georgia, check
them out here to learn more about the respective August and October events.
My top picks from the Expo?
-
3ELove – You can check them out on the awareness items page.
- The super sweet Corpus series from Permobil –
see it here!
-
The TeleStik reacher – This thing is neat. If you have reaching,
bending, holding or grabbing issues, check it!
There is so much more, but I can’t share it here. You’ll just have to catch
the next show when you can. After all, it took me seven years of longing
before I made it. Seriously. It was worth the wait.
Take care and be well…
